Self Esteem

Self-Esteem and Domestic Abuse

This course has been specifically written by SixtyEightyThirty due to direct feedback from clients who said that they had completed various courses before looking at self-esteem, but had not been able to engage with the material on these courses.

This short 6 week course places domestic abuse right at the centre of lowered self-esteem and loss of identity and enables learners to explore the impact of domestic abuse on their feelings and how they view themselves, whilst sharing tools to be able to consider moving forward.

The sessions cover: Introduction to self-esteem; exploration of own self-esteem; consequences and symptoms of lowered self-esteem; positives of higher self-esteem; types of behaviour - passive, aggressive, assertive, exploration of own skills and qualities, relaxation and self-esteem and evaluation.

Women who have successully completed the programme have said:

"I now understand why I felt so low and why I couldn't even work out who I was anymore, this course has helped me to begin to re-build me."   "I am beginning to be able to find me; I am starting to make decisions, and am even thinking about starting to open my post again!"
  "I have felt like nothing for so long that I never thought that I would be able to even consider feeling a bit better, now I am practising being assertive and saying No.  I ring telephone banking most days just to practise saying NO in a safe way!"

 The next Self Esteem and Domestic Abuse course will be held on the following dates:

Thursday 2nd February 2012 - double session 10am to 2pm

 Women who have successfully completed the programme have said:

.......... "I now understand the power and control within domestic abuse and can look at my experiences differently.  I now see myself with a future and a way forward." .......... "I never realised that the coping strategies I was using were making me feel worse!  Now I have new ways to cope and I feel so different and able to live life for the first time in a long time!"
.......... "Listening to the others and their experiences really helps me to think about what has happened and how I can begin to re-build my life"
.......... "The course has actually changed my life, I know that sounds dramatic but the difference I feel is dramatic.  I had a down period a few months ago and instead of going deeper into depression I was able to use the tools that I learn't on the course and I could work out for myself the early warning signs and the triggers which helped me to feel better and I got through the depression a lot quicker, I also now feel that because I did this once, next time I feel like this, I know I will be able to help myself rather than relying on professionals.  So the course really has changed my life I feel that I am actually in a new chapter and I am starting to get brave and build my confidence even more."

WRAP Course Dates

WRAP at SixtyEightyThirty

SixtyEightyThirty will facilitate the WRAP programme for 8 clients who have identified that mental health problems have been a negative aspect of their lives so far and have been in a period of wellness for at least 6 months.  All those interested in WRAP will be advised to book an appointment with the two facilitators prior to the programme starting.  This appointment will focus on supporting the client to consider if WRAP is right for them at this stage.  If the client feels that they are ready and able to engage with WRAP then the monitoring forms will be completed and they will be referred to the programme.

The WRAP programme will be facilitated for 6 weeks in the training room at SixtyEightyThirty.

Each session will involve using the WRAP workbook that has been designed by Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind.  The workbook has been split into sections that naturally follow on from one another;
